Landmarks Committee Annual Luncheon 2016
The LVIS was founded, in large part, to maintain and preserve the historical landmarks of East Hampton Village. In recent years, besides advocating for the establishment of Historic Districts, we helped provide new street lights for Main Street, maintenance for the North End Cemetery, fencing for the LVIS neighbors, supplies for the School House behind Clinton Academy and burial of the power lines at the old Mark R. Buick at the intersection of Pantigo Road and Accabonac Road. This past year, the Landmarks Committee oversaw the restoration work and cleaning of the Moran Temple and the adjacent Table commemorating the Rev. Samuel Buell in the South End Cemetery. Shortly, restorative work will commence on the Gardiner Sarcophagus and adjacent Tables in the Cemetery. The Annual Landmarks Luncheon has celebrated this mandate to educate our membership and the community every Fall for the past twenty-four years. Topics of late have included the Thomas Moran House, the Wibourg Estate, Stanford White’s residence, and the de Menil gift of historic structures to the Village.
The 24th Annual Landmarks Luncheon will take place on Saturday, October 1st at the Devon Yacht Club. Tables for 10 are available at $1,000 and $750. Individual tickets are $100 and $75.
Space is very limited. For early reservations, which are encouraged, please mail your check to the LVIS (95 Main Street, East Hampton, NY 11937) or call the office (631-324-1220) with your credit card information.
