Flags

From 1950 to 2017, with the help of the Veterans of Foreign War members, the LVIS purchased and arranged for 100 flags to be raised in the village 15 times each year.

In 2018, the VFW felt that they had to withdraw due to their aging membership and a new partnership was formed with the Chamber of Commerce and the YMCA to continue the tradition.

In 2020, LVIS took control of flags again. About 70 flags will continue to fly on Main Street on major holidays including Memorial Day, Flag Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, the LVIS Fair Day, Labor Day, September 11th and Veterans Day.
